Mathematics as a Civil Rights Issue

Many of us are aware that the majority of minority youth are unable to perform even the most basic of math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with proficiency.

At present there are a number of institutes across the country focused on how to help our students understand fractions since over 80% of students of color struggle with this first foray into mathematics abstraction.

What is happening and how parents and communities can help our school system address these issues will be the focus of this blog.

Stay tuned as we start the conversation about mathematics as a civil right for the 21st century.
